I have some good news today, and it completely has to do with my wonderful husband (and me, I suppose, if you count my excitement for him as good news!).

The news:  Yesterday, Nathan was officially promoted to CAPTAIN!

We were not entirely sure the promotion would even happen, considering all the government necessities for changes in the system and the ongoing U.S. government shutdown.  Unfortunately, Nathan has been “shafted” quite a bit when it has come to his promotion times, so he was going to be very disappointed if it was pushed back AGAIN.

Government shutdown and all, we proceeded as planned.  He was promoted at 1630 on Tuesday, October 1, 2013.  AND, his mother and I were the ones to put those coveted “double bars” on.  How fun!

Afterwards, we had a small gathering of family and friends join us at the Liberty Tavern in Clarendon for a cake made by my wonderful friend, Emily, and a few celebratory drinks.
